About Jin Shin Jyutsu®
A touch therapy that works with 144,000 energy functions in the body.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® is a universal Art, the KEYS of which are as old as mankind. It was rediscovered in Japan in the early 1900s by Master Jiro Murai and was brought to the West in the 1950s by Mary Burmeister, a Japanese-American.
Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced ‘jitsoo’) uses a system of 26 ‘energy sites’ to unlock the natural energy of the mind and body, thereby eliminating fatigue and stress, relieving pain, releasing muscle tension, and promoting mental alertness and calm. It is often described as ‘Acupuncture with the fingers’ but no pressure or manipulation is used.
Because it is gentle it is safe for children, pregnant mothers, the elderly and infirm. It is also a great support for people on medication and those undergoing cancer or other treatments.
A deeply relaxing and comforting treatment, Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied by a trained practitioner or as self-help, which is easy to learn and can be used as maintenance between sessions.
The sessions normally last an hour.
What to Expect
During a session, the client lies on a comfortable mattress, face up and fully clothed.
After listening to the pulses, the practitioner applies light touch on the client’s body using the system of 26 ‘energy sites’.
Two sites are held simultaneously until the tension or congestion is released, then one hand is moved to another site and along areas of the body where there is tension. The specific sequences used are called ‘flows’.
Each site can take seconds to minutes to release and re-energise. Treatments last about 45 minutes, with a short period for rest and teaching of self-help.
The treatment is a pleasurable experience, generally one of deep relaxation, and the benefits are usually felt immediately. Moreover, the treatment continues for a further 24-hour cycle after the session, gently cleaning, correcting and regenerating energies.
“Even after one treatment clients report that they feel ‘easier’, calmer and revitalised.”

“I have studied and practised holistic therapies for 20 years and developed a particular affinity for energy work after I had a profound experience with energy in 1997. I am a fully accredited Jin Shin Jyutsu® Practitioner and Self-Help Teacher. I first became fascinated with this dynamic touch therapy in 1998, after using it to clear my own migraines. Since 2001, I have shared my love and knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu via individual sessions, talks, self-help classes and online.
